Indestructibles: The Best Invention After Indoor Plumbing

Indestructibles are a great improvement on classic board books for babies and toddlers. The first time I discovered them on our library shelves, I was overawed. Indestructibles, as the name implies, are made of a tough, thin, indestructible and WASHABLE, dishwasher proof material which is also nontoxic and safe for babies to chew on.

Indestructibles are true picture books without words. They contain nothing but gorgeous, colorful pictures on topics babies like to study: lady bugs, pond creatures, birds, baby faces, Humpty Dumpty, Mama and Baby and many more. The lack of text encourages moms to follow what catches their babies’ attention and create their own story.

Who was the genius who invented Indestructibles? Actually, there were two geniuses ( or more properly 'genii') , artist Kaaren Paxton who made three individual books for her triplet grand babies, and her daughter Amy, mother of the triplets, who had the idea of marketing the books. Thank you, ladies.

Enjoy your Indestructibles, dear mothers of very young children. I bet you could fit twenty of them into your diaper bag. I wish they had been around when my kids were babies. My baby is fourteen and I stopped her, just in time, from conducting a scientific experiment titled: Are these really indestructible?

Now I just wish, someone would make Indestructibles about icons. Anybody out there?
